I had more technical issues with the blog this week (so much for catching up!😒) so here’s what happened in my life around 7 weeks ago!😬
Monday:
I had decided to work from home today. Firstly, because it was a pupil day free in schools and I would have to look after Mia and secondly because I had no tutorials booked in. Then it turned out that Mia’s kindy was open regardless so I thought “Ooh lots of quiet time to get all of my marking done!” No such luck. Mia woke up full of cold and had to have a day off and that meant I got zero work done as she was mega clingy. It was actually really nice though as she’s getting less cuddly as time goes on and I miss my cuddly toddler!
It also tipped it down all day, so it was a good day to stay at home in bed! Ian got home from work like a bedraggled rat on his bike and we were still in our pjs and the look on his face said it all!😳Seriously though, what was the point of getting dressed, when we had absolutely no reason to leave the house?!
Tuesday:
“I need to go to the toilet, I’m fizzing!” were the first words out of my daughter’s mouth this morning! I am still none the wiser as to what that meant!🤷🏼♀️
To make up for yesterday’s dysfunction, I was up and organised and scrubbed the entire kitchen in some kind of frenzy which was last seen approximately 6 months ago! I do have these mad cleaning spurts sometimes, but they are few and far between and I do get sidetracked by minuscule details in one area as opposed to surface cleaning the entire house, but one corner is always really tidy!🙊
Due to the incessant rain, our house still looks like a Chinese laundry and is a bit embarrassing when I’m home tutoring! Ah well! Take me as you find me!
Mia was very excited to be “The Demonstrator” at gymnastics this afternoon and talked about it all evening as if she was some kind of superhero!☺
I went to Pilates, which meant that I was pretty late eating dinner, but in my productive mood I had decided I was going to attempt the UK property tax return and asked Ian if he could give me a hand since he had lodged one before all this rigmarole started. Well if I’d have asked for a kidney I might have got a better response! Apparently it was past 9pm and he’d worked hard today (this should be his tagline! That and “If you’re not sweating, you’re not working!”🙄) so it was out of the question. There must be a “no tax returns after 9pm” law that I’m unaware of! I’m not going to lie, that pissed me off! I always have to sort out our financial affairs because Ian is THE WORST with money and paying bills, but I’m not a fan of numbers myself and was completely lost with this paperwork. Why do they make the language in tax returns so incomprehensible?! It makes no sense to me whatsoever!😣
Anyway, I snapped at Ian for not helping and generally being crap with our finances and how my Dad shouldn’t have to bail us out again! Then we went from money to my figure (Go figure?!🤷🏼♀️) Then it went from 0-100 and in retrospect is very embarrassing!
In short: we both slagged off each other’s families, then each other, then, in a fit of rage over a comment about my Mum, I threw the (full) dog bowl at his head and missed and got water all over myself, which sounds funny now, but wasn’t at the time!😬 Then he said more personal stuff regarding the infertility, which was really hurtful and too raw right now, so I slapped him round the face…hard…a few times…and hurt my hand! Then there was an incident in the bathroom where I was attempting to brush my teeth, whilst still shaking with anger, and he wouldn’t move out of my way, so I may or may not have spat my toothpaste at him!😳😬🙈 Then he went to bed in the spare room. I went in and asked what he’d meant by the Mum comment in particular and he said he’d just made it up to hurt me! “Never go to bed on an argument” was unavoidable! Don’t get me wrong, I said some pretty nasty stuff back too and do not condone my behaviour in any way, but some of his comments seem a little unforgivable right now… Not much sleeping done!
Wednesday:
Ian left without speaking to me and I am still angry and upset about what happened. But at least it was pissing it down with rain as karma as he’s on his bike. We have had two weeks of constant rain just to coincide with Ian losing his license, so as you can imagine, even before “THE argument” he was moodier than usual!
It was his turn to cook tonight and he hadn’t taken anything out of the freezer, which I was well aware of, but thought I would let him suffer seeing as he always makes such a big deal if I forget!
I got talked into “Wine Wednesday” by some bad influences at work (not much arm twisting, as you can imagine!) and we taste tested all the half empty white wine bottles in the fridge until we found one that was drinkable! It was called “Monkey’s brother” or something like that!🥂
It turned into “Whine Wednesday” as I chatted to my colleagues about what happened last night. They think I should not speak and hold out for an apology…hmmm, knowing Ian I could be waiting a while!
Ian had been ringing my phone towards the end of the afternoon, but I thought if it was that important he would have left a message and he didn’t.
I got home after collecting Mia from kindy and my friend Dani was already there to take us to Zumba. Dashed inside to discover that the gate had blown open in the crazy wind we’ve been having and Cass (dog) had escaped! That was why Ian had been ringing me! Well it wouldn’t have been to apologise, would it?! It turns out, luckily, that Ian had typed “missing dog Toowoomba” into Facebook and had managed to find him! That dog is so lucky! Thankfully the lady who had found him hadn’t taken him to the pound so had saved us a bail out charge this time! Phew! Ian arranged to pick him up after Zumba as obviously I had to drive!😒
I got in the car with Dani and told her that Ian and I weren’t talking and she said that Ian had said “I don’t think Emma’s talking to me!” so he knows what’s going on and he still isn’t apologising!
After Zumba, we had no dinner (grrr!), I drove Ian to the shops and then to rescue Cass, all without speaking! It turns out that the house Cass was at was opposite Ian’s work about 5kms from our house! Ian reckoned he must have followed his scent to get there, but I’m not convinced!🤔A pretty big coincidence though!
Thursday:
Went for acupuncture first up today. I’m still going, despite the fertility clinic prognosis. It can’t do any harm, right?
Then went to town as needed to get a present and Max Brenner (chocolate shop) was opening. The queue was out of the door and debated giving up but had already told Mia exactly what we were doing so didn’t want to be a letdown. After we’d been waiting there for around 20 minutes in the huge queue, I realized that the free chocolate was on a stand at the side and I didn’t have to queue at all!🙄🙄🙄
I got dinner ready and then had to leave for a massage and I was so tender as soon as she started touching my shoulders! I had knots all over the place and after an hour of working them hard, one stubborn one still wouldn’t smooth out!
Got home and ate my dinner alone. Still not talking to GH and Mia was in bed, so it was very quiet again!
Friday:
Another day, another trip to Max Brenner! After playgroup, we went to try Max Brenner for lunch. Which, I reiterate, is a chocolate café. So there are no suitable lunch options. I opted for a milkshake and thought I would share a cake with Mia but she scoffed the lot without sharing!
There was a busker outside and the girls were total groupies dancing and clapping for him!☺
I left the others and escaped to go baby shower shopping for Sunday. We are planning a surprise baby shower for my friend Dani and hadn’t got any of the stuff yet! Got directed to Crazy Bargains by the lady at the info desk and it lives up to its name! Got so many cool things! Although it all sounds so cheap until you take a pile of it to the counter!😳Soon adds up!
Ps. Still not talking!
Saturday:
Didn’t go to parkrun as it had pissed it down all night, but as it turned out, it had stopped for half an hour before the heavens opened again, so should have gone! Ah well! It was nice to get an extra couple of hours in bed!
Took Mia swimming and then we started getting everything ready for Dani’s baby shower. We had a dropout, so luckily my friend, Petrina, could stand in, but then someone else texted to say they couldn’t make it! Aargh! We were doing an afternoon tea and needed 10 people for it to go ahead, so tried some more of my friends who I thought would want an afternoon tea and prosecco (who wouldn’t really?!) but in all fairness it was very short notice and they didn’t really know the Mum to be so it was trickier than I thought…
Went to drop all the decorations at Renee’s as I was going to be keeping Dani busy for the morning and then bringing her across when I got the signal!
Well, at the exact time I was driving there, a thick fog descended on Toowoomba and I got completely lost and couldn’t find her house! Just when you think you don’t need to Google map your friend’s house anymore…😳
Anyway, operation surprise baby shower is good to go!
Ps. Still not talking…
Sunday:
Up early for the Little Mermaid singalong. We were taking Dani and Lucy, to keep Dani distracted from what was happening.
I was telling Mia not to mention the baby shower to Dani and she said “Am I coming to the baby shower?!” My initial reaction was “no, it’s just for adults” and was met with floods of tears, because she had helped with a lot of the preparation. Not “helpful helping”, granted. It was certainly “kid helping” but she had helped nonetheless. I had had no luck filling the extra space so messaged Renee to see if she thought anyone would mind if I brought Mia and she said no, so all positions were filled! It was also an excellent behaviour bribe for the rest of the morning!
We arrived at the cinema for 10:30 and they had put the time back to 11 which gave us time to nip to the supermarket and stock up on snacks. Well, the price of cinema snacks is extortionate! I’m a bit easily led when it comes to food though and Dani kept pointing out the bargains, so ended up with way too much food! It started slightly later than I thought which was a good time-wasting tactic because I still had an hour for her to not get suspicious!
Anyhow, we got there and she was suitably surprised (not quite sure how?!) Everyone was mostly impressed by my Facebook stalking tactics to get all her friends there but that was possibly the easiest part!
We played games, stuffed our faces and I made sure to nab Dani and Mia’s prosecco as obviously they couldn’t drink! Well it would be a crime to waste it! It was a lovely afternoon but all good things come to an end and I had to go home and bask in the sound of silence again. When I said I wanted a quieter week, this was not what I had in mind!
Wow, you are a very busy lady, I don’t know how you fit it all in. There was no P.S. at the end. Just curious, are you talking yet. ha ha.
Ha ha. No, I should have added a PS to that day too!🙊
