Monday:
It was a Public holiday, so a good excuse for a lazy morning. There was also torrential rain which just makes you want to stay in bed and hide from the world, doesn’t it?
Finally mustered up the energy to go and get the car that we had left at our friend’s last night (for the session which culminated in two drinks!) and they weren’t in as they’d gone shopping!πIan gave me a massive “I told you so!” as he’d asked me to ring before we left, but they hadn’t said they were going out, so thought it would be fine! Never assume!π
Ian (back to grumpy husband!) dropped us off at another friend’s house for a play date, where Mia upended an entire bowl of chips onto the floorπ, and begrudgingly picked us up after to pick the car up “take 2”!
Skyped my Dad to broach a visit home to England next June for my friend’s wedding and he’s onboard!π
Decided to get an early night as I’m exhausted and had lights out at 9:30pm!π²
Tuesday:
Woke up with a jolt at 3:30am and couldn’t get back to sleep so skimmed Facebook to find an article that a friend had posted saying that if you get less than 8 hours sleep a night, you die earlier! Bloody hell! Now I was too stressed about not sleeping to go back to sleep!
Started reading more articles about lack of sleep and came across a lady who had taken melatonin to help with sleep and had reversed her early menopause in the process…π‘I had taken melatonin at one point as I had heard of the possible benefits, but it had given me crazy dreams and sore teeth from grinding them so had stopped. Maybe now I had the plate to stop me grinding at night, I could work through the dreams?! You just know I’m going to give it a try, don’t you?!π¬
Wednesday:
Despite leaving with plenty of time, was running late for work again as I got stopped by the train for ages!πI hate this stupid train! Everyone reckons it only passes through once a week but it just so happens to get me every time I’m running late for work and has sodding 50 million carriages (rough estimate!).π
Work today shall be dubbed “the day of flakers!” Give me strength! If I hear one more excuse as to why another student can’t hand in an assessment…on the bright side, at least some can still be bothered to make up an excuse and one girl is very inventive, which does give me a chuckle!
Zumba was awesome tonight! Our old teacher was back and we got nice and sweaty! Fortunately this blog isn’t scratch and sniff!π€’
Got home, showered (felt the need to state that after my last sentence!) and found my old packet of melatonin. Took one and was in bed by 10pm.π΄
Thursday:
Woke up feeling groggy. I’m not sure if it’s the melatonin but would guess so. The annoying thing is it was the last tablet in my packet and I don’t have a repeat prescription, nor want to pay to go back to a fertility clinic just to get a prescription! Rang my GP but he is on a conference so got an appointment with another doctor tomorrow.π
Went to acupuncture. Told him the update and he thinks melatonin is a good idea. Had some needles in my ears today and when one of them was pulled out it started pouring with blood onto my hair which meant it was now an attractive red shade rather than pink! Had to go and wash it out as it was gross!π€’
It was “Toy clean” at Giggles tonight. Rowan, the joker, switched the lights off in the office while I was photocopying, so I thought it must be on a sensor and was flapping about like an oversized crow!π³ I will get him back!
Got a text from Dad saying he was back in hospital so that was a downer! Really not into these “Surprise! I’m in hospital” texts!
Friday:
Playgroup. It was good to be back after the holidays, but there was a very embarrassing moment when we were packing up and I looked up to see Mia wrestling with a lady over a spray bottle! It turned out Mia had been trying to help to clean but had been spraying chemicals about randomly in the air. The lady had tried to get it off her and diva Mia had refused to give it up, hence wrestle! Put her in time out and had stern words about respect for elders! To plead Mia’s case, she thought it was air freshener, which I do let her spray for me at home, so I saw her logic…minus the wrestling with the lady part!π³
Went for lunch with Bianca, Rita and the kids. Bianca and I had humongous milkshakes following a humongous burger and then felt very sick! We made exciting plans for Bianca’s birthday which will give us something to look forward to!
Went on a search for a Moana costume for Mia for Disney Singalong on Sunday. Dani had told me about a stall at Clifford Gardens so went to check it out. Not great quality but also not in her size, although she was determined to make a size 6-8 fit (she’s a very slim size 5!) Every time she moved the top fell down!π She wouldn’t settle for anything with Moana on as she wanted to “be” Moana! Of course!π
We went shopping for kindy husband Eli’s birthday and saw a few Christmas knick-knacks which I grabbed at the same time. Mia had to scan and pack every item herself at the checkout, which was humorous for everyone else!π Not good when we had to get to a doctors appointment though! We needn’t have worried however, as the doctor was running an hour behind!πππ
Saw Renee there, also waiting, and half planned Dani’s baby shower while we were there! I went for a melatonin prescription but as it wasn’t my usual doctor, I was envisaging some problems. However everything ran smoothly…until Mia randomly said “My Mummy can’t have another baby and she cried a lot!”π³ This totally took me by surprise and made me cry again!π’ The doctor was lovely and understanding (and had tissues!) but then said we might need a bone density scan seeing as I’m at risk of osteoporosis! Okay, it never rains but it pours!π
Got home and stuffed my face and drowned my sorrows: takeaway and multiple drinks! Bad news is not good for healthy living! I’m all about self medication and comfort eating at the moment. My jeans won’t thank me!π€
Ian had gone to bed and I went into the bathroom to be greeted by a huge cockroach! Aussies seem to be used to these humongous things but I will forever be freaked out! I grabbed the nearest thing (Mia’s flip flop!) and whacked it! It stopped and squelched on her sole a little. Went to get a tissue, but when I tried to scoop it up it scuttled away!π±Under the bed!π±π±It had better not crawl over my face and into my open mouth while I’m sleeping!π±π±π±No time to go searching for it at midnight though so tried to blank it out!
Saturday:
Ian was working so had to wake Mia early for parkrun. No tears or complaining today, so she must be improving. We still came last and it took us an hour, but the lack of whining was great!π
We went for breakfast at the Parkhouse as it was Barbara’s 150th run, but I, as ever, jinxed the service and we were waiting for AGES! They tell me it’s not that bad usually, so I must be a bad omen!βΉοΈ
It was Mia’s kindy husband’s birthday party in the afternoon, which started with laser tag. I was dubious as to whether it was suitable for 5 year olds, but Mia was full of bravado, so went with it. The parents were allowed on to the viewing platform, but I couldn’t see Mia for ages and one of the supervisors ended up coming to fetch me, as it turned out that she got scared and started crying because it was dark, she doesn’t like guns and didn’t want to hurt her friends! Bless her! I had to go in and explain that it was only a game and then told her that her headband glowed up in the dark and looked really cool and that made everything better!ππΌ
Second round she actually wanted to play and went in willingly. Eli’s Mum, Sam, asked how she was going and then we heard “IT’S NOT WORKING!!!!” shouted at the top of her voice. It took her a while to work out that if she got shot a few times, her pack was disabled for a short while and she had to wait for the lights to come back on! I think it’s safe to say that she got the prize for biggest drama queen, if not for highest points!π
Next was bowling. A lot of the kids lost interest halfway through and started wandering into the arcade. Mia was disappointed as she was actually winning, but I said we could say she won because she was leading and that placated her #damagecontrol.π¬
They all went to play on the arcades and Mia randomly put her tokens in a machine, pressed some buttons and won the jackpot!
The tickets just kept coming, which was very exciting…until we got to the counter and realised that anything good cost thousands of tickets!π In the end she chose a fairy egg and a unicorn, as you do!π₯π¦
I was told there were some Moana costumes in Big W, so dashed off to Grand Central after the party. I couldn’t see any, so asked an assistant who looked and couldn’t see any either and was phoning the other branch when I found some at the back of a rail! Yay!π
Sunday:
Up fairly early for Moana singalong. We got there and there was hardly anyone there! Perhaps people who like to belt out songs from kids’ movies are in the minority!π
We sat on the front row to give her space to move and Mia sang and danced like the little drama queen she is. It was pretty cute until she started her own dance group at the front comprised of kids who had escaped from their parents and were getting yelled at to get back to their seats! Whoops! Bit of a bad influence! π
Got home and was exhausted, so had a little nana nap!π
Got up to go on a “cake date” with Petrina. “Will move for cake!”π° I had a hot chocolate and a chocolate Oreo cheesecake! Sugar rush! And eyes bigger than belly once again as felt sick afterwards. Will I ever learn this lesson?! Probably not!
Got home again and had no desire to do anything. Sunday night blues! Luckily for me, Ian cooked dinner. Score! Skyped Dad and he is out of hospital and okay…for now! Praying for a speedy recovery for him and a calmer week to come for all of us! And you!xxx
Just love thos bogs. Glad you are coming home in June. I’ll be home and we might be able to do more than say hello and goodbye like the last time. Si glad your dad is ok. Hope the melatonin does the trick. Could do with some of that myself purely for the improved sleep asoect. Take care my lovely xx
Thanks Mel.x
