Not just your average week in paradise, we actually went to Paradise resort!
Monday:
Started the day with school placement visits which I really enjoy because it gets me out of the office and the prep/year 1 kids are pretty cute and randomly come and tell me stories, despite me never having met them before! One girl came up to tell me that her grandma has possums in her roof! So random!π
Speaking of which, I think we might have possums in our roof as I keep hearing strange noises and Cass (dog) seems very interested with something up high that we can’t see?!π€·πΌββοΈ
Tuesday:
Went to therapy this morning. I felt like it turned into a big rant session. I told her what had happened with me and Ian and that we still weren’t talking and she said I need to be a grown up, be the bigger person and be civil.π
Obviously deep down I know she’s right and the whole thing is ridiculously petty, but I just want a bloody apology and him to act like he gives a shit once in a while! She said I don’t need to be all pally, but I need to tell him where I’m going and answer his questions as that is just polite. Okay, point taken.
I had tutoring, then gymnastics, then dashed off to get Mia into costume for trick or treating. She took the opportunity to get right into character, which was great. She was a “bat fairy” and her dress had flashing lights which was so cool! Oh to be a kid again! Β (Click the video clip below for something really scary!)β¬οΈπ»
http://www.the-imperfectionist.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/img_9199.movIt’s completely all or nothing in Toowoomba regarding houses who take part or not. They either have amazing decorations, or the blinds are closed and nobody is coming to the door! Some of them were brilliant! Highlights included: dancing pumpkin lights, a zombie monster crawling along the grass, and a photo booth. We were following a downloadable map with all the houses taking part listed and one house that we pulled up to on there was in the middle of nowhere with no lights on and lots of wallabies hopping across the road in front of us! Β I decided against going to check if they were still taking part as I feared for my safety!π¬
I had told Ian where we were going and even asked if he wanted to come too. See, grown up!ππΌ
Wednesday:
My friend Dani had her baby last night and still went to Chicks at the Flicks with us after work!πππI could barely move for 5 days, let alone go to the cinema! Β It was Bad Moms 2 though and bloody funny. Loads of people didn’t turn up so we nabbed all the spare goody bags near to our seats…What?! Tell me you wouldn’t!π
Thursday:
Today was a drag Mia around to all of my appointments day!
Hair and nails: Mia’s hair is finally starting to grow back properly after her Edwina Scissorhands episode so could be shaped around her face a bit more! Hooray!π
Incidentally, if you wanted to read about that incident, click here!β¬οΈ
Then it was off to work, as our accountant there has offered to try to sort out my UK tax headache. I gave her my huge file of paperwork but she said I still need to find more so hopefully I can do that without too much of a headache! Probably more chance of winning the lottery though!π
Then ballet, then actually an early night for once!π
Friday:
The fire truck came to playgroup! This was my favourite session last year, but I have to admit I was a little disappointed this time as we weren’t allowed to spray the hose! Oh well, still a little bit exciting! Mia refused to pose for one of the only times in her life so the photo ended up like this!π
I had agreed to take my friend’s little boy with us and he ran in all excited and then must have been overwhelmed that his Dad wasn’t with him as he usually is and just burst into tears saying that he wanted to go home! It was another “Crap! What do I do?!” moment, because if it had have been Mia, I would have said “Snap out of it!” which doesn’t sound the most sensitive, granted, but she knows my style by now!π€£
I gave him a big cuddle but it wasn’t really working and I had a big queue of people to sign in, so thankfully Dave, an older volunteer stepped in and they ended up BFF and he didn’t even really want to know me anymore anyway! In my face!ππ»
Saturday:
We were driving to the Gold Coast for Bianca’s 30th birthday weekend today. I had booked the room online and it was bloody expensive so wanted to make the most of it. I had wanted Ian to come too as I don’t feel like he makes enough of these opportunities to spend time with Mia, but he didn’t want to come. I tried to persuade him, but he wasn’t having any of it and I got really upset and frustrated. Partly because I’d paid enough for the room so we might as well have all used it and partly because I still want him to act like he gives a shit! So I cried. Then pulled myself together and got us packed and in the car.
We were staying at Paradise Resort which is aimed at kids and had a pretty cool little water park, playgrounds, ice rink, kids club etc. However, I totally don’t feel like we got our money’s worth as it took us forever to even get checked in!
I pulled up into a short stay parking bay and took Mia to the reception desk to get checked in. Β I had already paid online, but they tried to charge me again which took several phone calls to resolve!π
Unfortunately they also said that their undercover car park was full, so we would have to park in their outdoor car park a couple of streets away.ππ
We dashed up to the room to drop the bags in our hands and then back down to the car to get the rest of our stuff to save carting it several streets. Well, it turned out we had too much stuff for one run and Mia is more of a hindrance than a help in these situations! So, we got back up to our room after the next bag shuttle and our door wouldn’t unlock!πππ
I tried every combination known to man, but the green light would not flash, so we had to cart everything back down to reception again!ππππ
They gave me 2 more keys (I now had 4!) and I went back up! It opened! Yay!π Hurried back down to the car for the last lot of luggage and Mia was kicking off that she was tired and could she just stay in the car while I did the last bag shuttle?! Cue major tired tears!πΒ Against my better judgement, I decided to dash back up to the room to drop the bags and the bloody thing wouldn’t open again!π«
Got back down to the car to Mia hanging out of the window shouting “MUMMY!” at the top of her lungs and claiming abandonment, despite her knowing exactly where I was. I should have trusted my gut and just dragged her along with me kicking and screaming from tiredness and caused a scene that way! You can’t win!π Parenting = a series of muddling through bad decisions trying to keep a mini human alive!π³
Back to reception! The receptionist took back all 4 keys and said she would start again and reissue two new ones. Went back up and it worked! Hooray!
Went back down to the car. Drove to the outside car park. Couldn’t find a space there either, so parked dodgily under a tree in a non-official space but quite frankly thought “Sod it!” by this point! (There aren’t enough rolly eye emojis in the world to express how I felt by this point!)
Walked back to the hotel, very sweaty and pissed off, with Mia moaning how tired she was!π£π
We finally went to meet the others by the pool and Mia ran straight off to play with her friend. Not so tired now, huh?!π
We let them play for a couple of hours and then went to get ready for dinner. I only went and bloody forgot to pack deodorant, didn’t I?!πSo had to go and beg at Bianca’s room!
Went for dinner at The Helm which was in a great location and lovely food. Yummy calamari!πShared a jug of cocktail with Alaina and had brought my own alcohol and put it in the room fridge to try to save a bit of money! I didn’t end up drinking it though, as got back from dinner and Mia pretty much crashed out, so I just had a little nightcap!π₯
Sunday:
Got up, checked out and stored our luggage and then went for a lazy breakfast near the pool.
Let the kids play at the playground and then in the water park for the rest of the time. Took the opportunity to catch some rays by the pool as it was lashing it down back in Toowoomba apparently!π
Thought “I could just do with a cocktail”, when I realised I had left all my alcohol and water bottle in the fridge in the room!π²
Dashed to reception and got the receptionist to call the cleaners, who said they hadn’t found anything. I said I was 100% certain I had left it all in there so there was nowhere else it could be! She said she would get them to check again. 5 minutes later she arrived with my water bottle and said that was all they found in there!π²
Well, I called BS because they had been right next to each other! Don’t get me wrong, if I had been cleaning the room and come across an alcohol stash, I would have thought it was my lucky day too, but you can’t lie that badly and bring part of the loot back without the alcohol! So I stood my ground and lo and behold, back came my goodies…with one more drink than I realised I had anyway! Bonus!π₯π
I was going to meet my friend Shannon and her family for lunch but they had all been ill, so we just went to her house instead. Just before we got to her house I started sneezing and feeling crappy!π€§
She has a gorgeous new baby so didn’t want to pass anything on so just had limited cuddles.π€
She asked me how the fertility treatments were going and I hadn’t published that blog yet and didn’t really want to get into the doom and gloom, so just kind of went “Yeah!…” Not that that really said anything at all, but seemed to suffice!π¬
I also noticed that despite wearing factor 50, Mia looked decidedly crispy! So I was going home with a cold and she was going home with sunburn!π
I HATE that drive home! The highway is soooo boring and by now I was feeling shocking!π·
Mia fell asleep on the drive, so I didn’t want to wake her when we pulled into a service station and nipped in to get Red Bull and a bag of jelly sweets to keep me awake.
I came out to Mia in floods of tears (why do they wake up the second you leave?!) because “I thought you’d left me again!” (How negligent does she make me sound?!π³). I reassured her I could see her through the window the whole time and she wasn’t abandoned! Β Straight back to sleep!π
Got home hoping absence would have made the heart grow fonder, but it looked like GH had enjoyed the bachelor lifestyle a little too much and was a bit miffed we were back to burst his bubble!π
Back to reality and torrential rain to boot!βοΈAh well, the escape was nice!
